Moments: Not a Baby Anymore

Last Wednesday, after we'd returned from our trip to visit family in New York, Gates made an astonishing announcement. She let us know she's not a baby anymore, removing the letters that have spelled out B - A - B - Y since the day she came home from the hospital.

Gates Redecorates

I knew Gates would be a toddler soon, already taking her to dine at Michelin-star restaurants and reaching out to Melissa of Lulu the Baker for plants that would encourage Gates to garden. In my head, I thought I had more time, using her ability to walk without support and with people watching as the arbitrary dividing line.

Outgrown Letters

As long as we've lived in The Station, the door to Gates' room has been identified by letters from my baby shower that spelled out Baby. For about a week, Gates had been trying to dislodge the bottom letter, but I'd discouraged her. It wasn't until cubes was home with us that I let Gates mark her transition to toddler.

When did you know you had a toddler?

Be sure to stop back later today for Gates' thirteen month portrait. She's more lively than ever and determined to make each session memorable.

Ciao Bella!
