About Me: Sharing 11 Things You Might Not Know About Me

If someone you didn't know asked you to share eleven things about yourself, would you? What would convince you? For me it came down to personality and to perceived openness.

Wishing Time Would Stand Still

Yesterday Chelle of Everyday Polish tagged me. Her About Me bio (changed since this post was originally published and now tamed in tone) and her Thursday Talkback: 11 Things told me all I needed to know. If you like women who aren't afraid to speak their mind and tell it like it is, you should head over to her blog and engage her in conversation (or debate). In the meantime, here are 11 things you may not know about me.

11 Things About Eden (Q&A)

If you had 10 minutes to be on a popular television show, which show would it be?

I'd enjoy being on Bones as a lepidopterist (an entomologist who focuses on butterflies). In eighth grade, I volunteered at the California Academy of Sciences in the Entomology Department getting to help identify and display various endangered and rare butterflies and moths. Bet you didn't know that about me either.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

The ability to freeze time! There are never enough hours in the day. I'd love to be able to stop the clock and everyone around me so that I could catch up. If I can't have this superpower, I'd settle for Hermione's time turner.

What TV show are you embarrassed about watching?

America's Next Top Model. I like the photo shoot segments; it's not too often you get to see how photographers work light and position/direct models. I've learned a lot about how to use scrims and reflectors to eliminate or soften shadows when you're stuck shooting in the direct sun. (I used to be embarrassed about watching The Bachelor/ette until The Knotty Bride began her spot on satirical recaps. Now I'm content to follow her tweet stream the day The Bachelor/ette airs. Her tweets (@TheKnottyBride) are twice the fun in a sixtieth of the time.)

What is your favorite book?

I have two all time favorite books. The first is Tom Peter's The Brand You 50: Or: Fifty Ways to Transform Yourself from an 'Employee' into a Brand That Shouts Distinction, Commitment, and Passion! (*affiliate link). The second is Seth Godin's All Marketers Are Liars: The Underground Classic That Explains How Marketing Really Works--and Why Authenticity Is the Best Marketing of All (*affiliate link).

What is the worst flavor of ice cream?

All of them because they're too tempting. Unfortunately I'm allergic to cow's milk so I'm limited to Coconut Milk alternatives (Soy and Rice Milk alternatives often have odd after tastes) which don't have the same mouth feel as real ice cream.

What is your favorite condiment?

Frank's Original RedHot Cayenne Pepper Sauce

What is the ideal comfort food?

Bush's Original Baked Beans with Let's Be Frank Dogs, Melted Goat Cheese, and Dijon Mustard. Chelle's comfort food (her mom's rice and beans with a lot of red sauce, meat and pikliz) sounds like it would be ideal too! I'd love the recipe to try sometime.

What is the most important meal of the day?

Brunch. I love dessert and brunch is the only meal where you can order dessert for a meal and get a way with it, for example, waffles with whipped cream and fruit or french toast with mascarpone and fresh berries. Luckily for me (and my waistline), brunch only occurs at most twice a week.

What is your dream job?

To run a farmhouse bed and breakfast in the middle of wine country (Washington or Texas Hill Country).

What subject do you wish you had paid more attention to in school?

Sewing. I can easily hand sew a blind hem, but I'd like to remember how to use darts for a tailored look.

What musical instrument do you wish you could play?

The drums. I don't know too many women who play the drums.

Your turn.
