Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there! I hope you have something special planned. I got my thank you early, a bouquet of flowers from cubes and Gates, and a dinner under the redwoods last night.

Lately after school lets out some of the neighborhood kids have been ringing our doorbell and running. I'd casually mentioned to cubes on Thursday that I wasn't going to answer the doorbell in the afternoon any more. By doing so, I ruined the surprise that cubes had planned for me. When he asked if he shouldn't have flowers delivered on Friday I immediately knew I was going to be receiving flowers for Mother's Day. (I fell in love with fresh flowers in 2007 after a long hate-hate relationship with them.)

The flowers arrived before I put away my Canon 5D and tripod so I used them as a subject for one of The Style Lab homework assignments. Which is your favorite arrangement? Uncropped versions can be found in my Style Lab Flickr gallery..

When you take a styling class, one thing you start to notice is the placement of your subject. As I was putting this post together, after I had photographed the beautiful tulips that cubes and Gates sent me and after I had put away the camera and the tripod, almost all of my shots are heavier on the right. That habit is definitely something I'll need to watch for in future photo shoots.

How are you celebrating your mom?

I'm so lucky to live nearby my mom. We're going to breakfast with her and my dad at Nick's to celebrate. If you're not near your mom, remember to give her a call. She'll enjoy hearing your voice.

Ciao Bella!
Eden!
