Outfit of The Day: Vintage Accessories In Need of An Outfit

Image
How do you plan what you're going to wear for the day? Do you carefully lay out your clothes and accessories the night before? I wait until I wake up, until I'm in danger of being late to figure out what I'm going to wear. This morning I woke up wanting to sport buttery carmel accessories, specifically these shoes and this purse. Shoes by Joyce of California, circa 1970s, Purse by John Romain, 1967; More photos on  Flickr .   The problem? I'm not sure what to wear them with. I've come up with a totally not work appropriate and very unique style (grey ribbed tank top with greenish Italian torn up jeans) that I might try another time, but so far I'm drawing a blank for work. What outfit would you pair with these shoes and purse? Credits:  Image taken by Eden Hensley Silverstein for The Road to the Good Life.

The Scene Today: Spring is Almost Here

On the way to class last night I saw a fire (not at the Temple) and I saw these gorgeous blossoms and buds on one of three trees. As the sun was setting I had to stop and admire the blooms. Reflections: The Story of Me

Image
I don't believe in coincidences. Instead, I think we're focused on something or there's something on our minds that we're working through so we're more aware of our surroundings. Talking about myself is hard, and I've been wondering for a while how to get started. Today's the day, I share my story. Why today? A series of related events over the past month.     In one of last week's lessons for Blogging Your Way , Holly pointed out every blog should include an About Me post in addition to the general About This Blog blurb. Earlier this month, Chris Brogan reminded his readers while you as an writer might assume your readers know your story, they don't - they may have just started reading. You need to retell The Story of You for where you are today and regularly do so. And then today I randomly flipped through a book that's always on my nightstand, Our Share in the Home , a Home Economics book from 1945, to "Who Are You?" And then, onl...

The Scene Today: Duck duck GOOSE

One morning I was distracted from my computer by loud honking. I turned to see a Canadian Goose land on top our building.   Canadian Goose takes a rest on top of our building   Seeing the Canadian Goose reminded me of a toast I'd seen in a magazine a couple of days before that I'd liked.   A toast from Grey Goose   We're past New Year's, but I think this toast would be perfect for a New Year's Eve with friends or a birthday party:   " A Toast: To nearest To dearest To the crew To cahoots To the ones who've been there To the ones who'll be there To dropping everything To saying anything To no judgements To no doubts To loyalty To trust To favors To lifelongs To been too long To nothing's changed To having history To having your back To moving away To never too far To growing up To settling down To your second family TO FRIENDS "   Ciao Bella! On this gray and rainy day, I'm thankful for cozy sweaters. What are you thankful for? The Scene Today: Dreaming of Sunshine

Image
With Daylight Savings starting last weekend and the Vernal Equinox happening this coming weekend, it should feel more like Spring. Right now though where I'm sitting it's cold, grey, and wet.   What a difference this March has been in comparison to March of 2004. If it were 2004 right now, I'd be enjoying Spring Break in San Francisco and walking across the Golden Gate Bridge in short sleeves.     If you're in San Francisco on a clear day, one of the best spots to grab a reasonably priced, healthy bite to eat is the Greens Restaurant at Fort Mason.   What's the weather like where you are?   P.S. The Scene Today: Soft Reflection

Image
Yesterday morning as I was walking from BART to work I turned the corner to see the sidewalk covered with buds from the Eucalyptus. I liked how delicate each bud was and picked one up to take back to the office. I photographed it later on my desk when the sun was just past its zenith, before the full afternoon sun started streaming into my office window. Details to Love: Buttery Caramel

In January, I replaced shoes that I don't wear with new-to-me shoes. One pair had such a warm carmel color that I wanted to find a purse that complemented the color. After a month and a half of searching, I think I succeeded. What do you think? I love how both the shoes and the purse have dots, tight stitching, and brass fittings.  See the signature lion on the clasp? It's the John Romain brand.
